Mountain Villas in Karpenisi

The residential complex consists of two two-storey houses, located on a steep slope with dense vegetation and an impressive view to a wonderful horizon. The design concept aims to accomplish the harmonious integration of the complex into the unique surrounding and to treat the view as the key factor for the development of the individual spaces of the complex.

Natural building materials are used in order to integrate the complex into the natural landscape but also in order to create harder or smoother “boundaries” according to the desired sense of privacy or openness through the proper use of those materials (stone / wood).

The particular form of the prismatic roofs seeks both to converse with the mountain ridge that surrounds the complex but also to induct the mountainous topography into the inner space, attempting to approach the concept of a “mountain-house” rather than the typical “house on the mountains”.

The “Belvedere” formed in the midst of the promenade that leads to the houses is the crucial spot where the visitor stands at equal distance between the two major protagonists: the residential complex to the north and the astonishing view of the far horizon to the south.
